Projects/Volunteer

None of our plans in Ireland can succeed without volunteers. We invite you, your friends & family to sign up to help complete any of our projects. Please go to The Volunteer Page and indicate the dates you are available. We expect each volunteer to complete 30 hours of work during your week of stay.

 

We have divided our projects into three levels. Therse are just examples. More will be added as we identify those that are most needed and useful.

LEVEL 1

They can be done by all volunteers with some moderate planning.

  • Make & distribute soup, bread or other food items

  • Clean up a neglected yard

  • Plant flower beds

  • Visit & purchase food for those with mobility issues

  • Work at a food shelf

  • Hand out flowers

LEVEL 2

They can be done by skilled volunteers with an advanced level of planning.

  • Paint a house

  • Rehab a holy well

  • Create and plant a garden

  • Replace carpet

  • Buy food and can

LEVEL 3

These projects need a sophisticated level of planning with skilled volunteers & perhaps skilled workers in Ireland.

  • Replace windows

  • Put up a prefab greenhouse

  • Upgrade a shower or bathroom

  • Add insulation

  • Replace a door

Annual Projects

We plan to schedule as many projects each year as volunteers and money allow. During the summer of 2025 we will be establishing contacts and planning with suppliers and contractors to set the stage for work in 2026 and 2027.

Be a Team Leader

Each project will have a team leader who will be responsible for organizing volunteers and getting the supplies and tools necessary to complete the project. They will complete the HT Project Sheet that will summarize the work done, results of project and get sign of by the person to whom the service was rendered.

Report on Progress

We also need a volunteer to gather all the HT Project Sheets and compile a report on all the projects that were completed. This report will be posted to the HT website.

Signage and Publicity

Whenever possible a Homeland Tyes Sign will be posted where work is being done. It will be like a ---For Sale Sign for Real Estate. There will also be a HT Post Card handout that will explain that we are doing this work to thank Ireland for all they have contributed to the United States. It will have links to our website and explain who we are. We will provide a space for you to sign your names. We hope this publicity will increase our visibility, memberships, and donations.
